VISUAL
COMMUNICATION

This module introduces the foundations of visual communication, including design elements, principles, composition, and media. Through practical work and critical discussion, students explore how visual choices convey meaning, solve communication problems, and shape audience understanding. The module builds a broad foundation for later work in advertising, branding, and design.

DIGITAL STUDIOS 1: ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR

This module introduces Adobe Illustrator as a tool for creating scalable graphics for advertising and design. Students learn essential skills in drawing, shape-building, colour, typography, and basic 3D features, and apply them to produce brand, campaign, and publication assets. By the end of the module, students will be able to develop polished vector-based work for a professional portfolio.

DIGITAL STUDIOS II: ADOBE PHOTOSHOP

This module develops practical Adobe Photoshop skills for image editing, retouching, compositing, and visual enhancement. Students learn how to prepare and refine images for advertising, social media, and branded communication across different media outputs. The module strengthens students’ ability to create polished visuals that support contemporary creative practice.

USER EXPERIENCE DESIGN

This module introduces the principles of user experience design and how design decisions shape the way people interact with digital products. Students explore user needs, behaviour, information flow, interaction patterns, and usability, and learn how small design choices can influence understanding, friction, and satisfaction. The module builds a stronger awareness of how thoughtful UX design supports meaningful and effective digital experiences.

This module introduces the fundamentals of user interface design for web-based experiences. Students learn how to structure layouts, apply hierarchy, work with interface components, and use colour and typography to create clear, functional screens. The module builds practical skills in designing web interfaces that are both visually coherent and easy to use.

USER INTERFACE DESIGN II

This module builds on foundational UI skills by focusing on mobile interface design and screen-based interaction. Students learn how to design for smaller screens, touch behaviour, navigation patterns, and responsive visual systems while maintaining clarity and consistency. The module develops practical skills in creating mobile interfaces that respond to user needs and device context.

CREATIVE AND CRITICAL THINKING

This module develops creative and critical thinking skills for UI and UX design practice. Students learn how to frame problems, question assumptions, generate ideas, and evaluate possible solutions while considering user needs and context. The module strengthens students' ability to respond to design challenges with clarity, originality, and purpose.

UI/UX PROJECT PRACTICUM

This capstone module brings together the visual, technical, and problem-solving skills developed across the diploma. Students complete an industry-sourced or self-initiated UI/UX project, applying interface design, user experience thinking, and presentation skills to a resolved outcome. The module prepares students to integrate research, design, and communication in a more professional project context.
