COURSE INTRODUCTION

The Professional Diploma in Communication Design is a lethal combination of our Diploma in Communication Design and Advanced Diploma in Communication Design. This course aims to take basic communication design to the next level, combining motion graphics and animation with traditional stills design. Students will be equipped with essential skills as a designer entering the industry.

Typography.png

ADVANCED TYPOGRAPHY

This advanced typography module equips students with professional skills to create clarity, expression, and emotional impact through type. Learners will explore how well-crafted typographic compositions enhance engagement and visual impact across print and digital media.

DESIGN PORTFOLIO

This module equips students with the skills to build a professional design portfolio that highlights their creativity, design thinking, and personal identity. Through portfolio structuring, case study writing, layout strategy, critiques, and coaching, students will complete a polished portfolio ready for careers or freelance opportunities.

EDITORIAL DESIGN

This module introduces digital publishing and Adobe InDesign, covering page layout, grids, visual elements, and editorial content organization. Students will learn design process, paper selection, print production, and finishing to create publications with clear personality and tone.

TYPOGRAPHY AND COMMUNICATION DESIGN

This module explores typography as a visual language in communication design, covering its history, anatomy, classifications, principles, and layout. Students will gain an in-depth understanding of how typographic elements—such as structure, readability, tone, personality, and integration with design elements—create visual impact.

M.A.D. INTEGRATED CAMPAIGN PROJECT.png

ADVANCED COMMUNICATION DESIGN PROJECT

The final major project for all Professional Diploma in Communication Design students. Students will have to integrate everything they have learnt from the past modules with a self-initiated project.

ART DIRECTION

This module explores the role of an art director, focusing on vision, concept, aesthetics, and message clarity. Students will learn how art direction differs from graphic design, the skills required, and how to guide a project’s success through strategy, conceptualisation, execution, and presentation.

DIGITAL STUDIOS I (ILLUSTRATOR).png

DIGITAL STUDIOS I: ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR

This module introduces Adobe Illustrator, a leading vector design software. Through ten interactive sessions, you’ll learn to create scalable graphics, explore colours, typography, and even transform 2D sketches into 3D visuals—building a showcase of your own designs by the end.


 

GENERATIVE AI CONTENT CREATION.png

GENERATIVE AI CONTENT CREATION

This module trains students to use generative-AI tools like ChatGPT, Midjourney, DALL·E, and Canva to create cohesive, platform-ready content. Students develop prompt-engineering and multi-modal asset skills, culminating in a mini AI social-media campaign showcasing their workflow and consistency.

USER INTERFACE DESIGN I

The User Interface Design I module introduces students to interface design for web applications using Figma. Students will learn the design process, layout, interface components, and selecting colours and typography to create streamlined, real-world website experiences.

CORPORATE IDENTITY AND DESIGN

This module explores the science behind a corporation’s ‘persona’ and corporate personality. Students will learn about corporate communications, symbols, logos, colours, logotypes, semiotics, supporting applications, and identity systems to ensure consistency and effective branding.

DIGITAL STUDIOS II: ADOBE PHOTOSHOP

This module introduces Adobe Photoshop, covering skills from basic editing to advanced techniques in visual effects, photo enhancement, and integration with Illustrator. It equips designers, photographers, and multimedia artists to edit and retouch images confidently and professionally.

PACKAGING AND PRINT TECHNOLOGY

This module covers packaging design from concept to 3D form, including aesthetics, materials, print production, and sustainability. Students learn to integrate design elements to create impactful packaging that influences consumer perception.

VIDEO EDITING ESSENTIALS

This hands-on module guides students from concept to a 15–30s product commercial, covering scripting, storyboarding, shooting, and editing in Adobe Premiere Pro. By the end, students can produce polished videos with sound, colour, graphics, captions, and social-ready exports.

CREATIVE AND CRITICAL THINKING

This module blends critical and creative thinking, helping students frame problems, question assumptions, generate ideas, and develop workable solutions. Using structured frameworks and hands-on techniques, they tackle real-world briefs with clarity and originality.

DIGITAL STUDIOS III: AFTER EFFECTS

This module introduces Adobe After Effects, the industry standard for motion graphics and animation. Students will learn to integrate text, graphics, and visual effects into videos, explore tools like shape extrusion and mask feathering, and gain the skills to produce motion graphics, visual effects, and compositing with confidence and efficiency.

SUSTAINABLE DESIGN THINKING

This module immerses students in human-centered design thinking with sustainability at its core. Over five sessions, they’ll explore eco-innovation, prototype low-impact solutions, and validate ideas through user testing—culminating in a refined sustainable concept supported by real-world insights.

This module guides students to become successful visual communication designers, focusing on design elements, composition, media exploration, and practical skills to solve visual problems and understand contemporary practices.
